Pfizer Inc. has received approval from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Viagra-like medication, which contains Sildenafil Citrate.
The drug is being developed under the brand name Revatio for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The medication comes in a form of oral tablet. The drug is currently in clinical trials for erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Viagra-like effects are also being seen in men taking nitrates.
The FDA approval comes just one year after Viagra-like drug was approved by the FDA, which means Pfizer has received a total of $1.3 billion from the company for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. The drug’s patent expires on December 31, 2017. This means that Viagra-like effects are now only seen in men taking nitrates.
Revatio is still available in generic form. Pfizer has also been granted permission to market the drug in countries like China, Japan, and Korea. Pfizer has also been granted permission to sell the medication in its generic form. Revatio is a treatment for male sexual dysfunction, which includes erectile dysfunction, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and pulmonary arterial hypertension.

“We are pleased that Pfizer is now able to obtain FDA approval to market Revatio as an oral medication for erectile dysfunction,” Woodcock said. “We are also working on a follow-up drug development initiative that could be launched in the next six months. This is another important step in the effort to bring Viagra-like medications to market.”
